Sulekh C. Jain, PhD, P.E.

Expertise: Metalworking Process Technology; Process Modeling; Heat Treatment; Hot Isostatic Pressing; Investment Casting; CVD Processes; Die Design and Lubrication.

Sulekh Jain is President of Materials and Manufacturing Technology Solutions Company, an engineering consulting firm. Dr Jain has a broad and varied background in metalworking process technology management with over 30 years experience in R & D in forging, extrusion, HIP, investment casting and heat treatment. With General Electric Aircraft Engines in Cincinnati for 16 years, where he was Senior Staff Engineer, he was responsible for programs involving forging process development for advanced aircraft engine designs. A major thrust was the development of analytical technologies for modeling manufacturing processes such as precision forging, radial forging, extrusion, ring rolling and investment casting, and working with vendors to transfer and implement these technologies. By successfully applying process modeling to process control, inspection and quality control, he helped the aircraft engine forging and investment casting industries adopt computer simulation for manufacturing process design.

Prior to GEAE, Dr. Jain was with C-E Beaumont in Houston and Wyman-Gordon Company in North Grafton, MA. He was with C-E Beaumont three years as Technical Director and Production Manager. In addition to managing the forge shop, he was responsible for product development and quality control. At Wyman-Gordon, he was Research Leader responsible for projects on conventional and isothermal forging, lubrication, die design, die life improvement, ring rolling and hot isostatic pressing of superalloy powders.

Dr. Jain has nine US Patents and over 40 technical papers in magazines and proceedings. He was a guest lecturer at MIT from 1976 to 1979, an Adjunct Professor at Worcester Polytechnic Institute from 1980 to 1982 and is currently Visiting Professor at Laval University in Quebec City. He received the ASME Centennial medal in 1980.

Dr. Jain holds a BS in Mechanical Engineering, an MS in Production Engineering, a Masters in Business Administration, and a PhD in Mechanical Engineering.
